Audience views many different kinds of entertainment from home

 In the days of the COVID-19 epidemic, many people find themselves stuck at home browsing streaming services for hours on end. On Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu there are thousands of movies and shows for viewers to watch. 

     However, the streaming services offer original or different series than their competitors so many people may not be able to watch their favorite shows if they do not subscribe to all of them. 

     Fortunately, there is plenty of new series and movies to enjoy whether they be classics or new shows.

     For those subscribed to Netflix, there are numerous options. For fans of sitcoms like The Office or Parks and Recreation, Netflix recently added the popular show “Community” which has six seasons available for viewers to stream. 

     This highly binge-able series follows the life of different aged misfits in community college as their colorful characters face everyday problems, usually caused by themselves.

     “Trailer Park Boys” is an R-rated series for its crude use of language and violence throughout the 12 seasons available on Netflix. However, it is this crude behavior that makes the adventures of Julian, Ricky and Bubbles as they try to con their way to the top in Sunnyvale Trailer Park. 

     ‘With a colorful cast of characters the show going through every kind of crime imaginable this series shows how humor can be found in almost any place in the world.

Lilo, Stitch and Nani surf to the screens of millions in their 2002 film.    

There are many different movies available to those on Disney+, but one that stands out from the rest is “Lilo and Stitch.” “Lilo and Stich” tell the story of an alien criminal who crashes on Earth. However, he must adapt to life on Earth alongside the Hawaiian girl Lilo.

     This comedy-filled adventure is fun for both children watching for the first time and adults wanting to relive their childhood.

     “Iron Man” is the original film that kickstarted the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie, starring Robert Downey Jr., tells the tale of how an egotistic, billionaire playboy became the superhero. 

     Whether you have watched all the movies or are just getting started, “Iron Man” is a great start to the Marvel Universe with its witty comedy, characters, and lore.

     Hulu is also a popular streaming service with many series. A show that is only available there is “Superstore.” 

     This show follows a group of employees in a Walmart-type store through love, life, and the struggles of doing minimal work. The series has likable characters along with a plot laced with jokes that will get audience members to chuckle throughout their watch time.

     “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” revolves around a fictional branch of the New York police force. The comedy series follows the detectives of the unit through making arrests and solving crimes. Many of the jokes stem from the characters’ personalities clashing in very interesting ways, with a prime example being of the childlike detective Jae Peralta and the almost robotic-like Captain Raymond Holt.

     This show has comedy, character development, and interesting characters that will help any brighten any quarantine night.

     For those wanting a movie with plenty of action, the 2018 film “Bumblebee” on Hulu is packed full of comedy, action, references galore, and of course transforming robots. This reboot of a new Transformers Cinematic Universe follows the Autobot Bumblebee learning to adapt to life in 1987 while trying to survive being hunted by humans and Decepticons alike.

     Whether you have enjoyed previous Transformers media before or know nothing of it, “Bumblebee” is sure to ignite your imagination for both the past time.

     These options are just several in thousands that those at home in these trying times can enjoy.
