Even with the temperatures dropping outside, the ring is heating up in both SmackDown and Raw. With new and unseemly strange allies being created every night, there seems to be many storylines of feuds and friendships being constructed. But here are the two biggest plotlines to pay attention to right now in the WWE.
Who will face John Cena last?
Cena is one of, if not the biggest, names in WWE. He is a never-seen 17-time champion, one of the fiercest men in a ring and the trademarker of one of the biggest sayings in entertainment history. On Dec. 13, he will fight in his last match, but the question is, what fighter has the honor of being in the ring with him one final time?
That will be chosen through a 16-man tournament that will take place throughout the next few weeks. The field will be chosen through a random drawing, but all the men will be those who have never faced off against Cena, guaranteeing that his fight will be against a brand-new opponent. The men will be chosen from Raw, SmackDown, NXT and other levels. The WWE chose to do it against all new opponents to give someone from the new generation a fight against the future Hall of Famer.
Though the 16 men have not been announced yet, there are rumors it could contain wrestlers such as Dirty Dom, Joe Hendry, Gunter and Penta. Though it is sad we will not see a classic matchup against a wrestler such as CM Punk or Cody Rhodes one more time, this last fight will certainly be one to watch and remember.
The Vision becomes blurry.
Everything seemed to be going right for Seth “The Visionary” Rollins. He was the leader of The Vision and the Heavyweight Champion. (For more info on how The Vision came to be, check out last issue’s edition of Wrestling with Williams.)

The new Vision stands over Seth Rollins
With the wrestling industry seemingly in the palm of Rollins’ hand, everything came crashing down during an Oct. 13 appearance on Raw. While addressing the crowd, Rollins turned around and was met with an unexpected spear from fellow Vision member Bron Breaker. Rollins was left writhing on the ground in pain while Breaker presented other vision members, Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed, with a choice. Go with him, who just speared “The Visionary,” or Rollins, who was lying in the middle of the ring.
The choice was made quickly by both men as they chose “The Future” Breaker, leaving the three of them standing over the heavyweight champion.
It is still unclear why Breaker chose to betray Rollins, but the group seems to be thriving without him. In the weeks since the betrayal the group has made multiple appearances on Raw getting a fight against Cody Rhodes and a spot in the battle royal .
While his former group is flourishing, Rollins is back home recovering from a shoulder injury, and he is said to be out for six months.
This left the Heavyweight belt, formally in Rollins’ grasp, up for grabs. CM Punk was already set to fight Rollins, giving him a guaranteed spot in a battle for the belt. The other spot was determined by a battle royal where 20 wrestlers all fought in the ring at the same time, and if they exited, they were disqualified.
Jey Uso, a former Heavyweight belt holder, won the battle royal, giving him a fight against Punk.
After a riveting fight between the two, Punk was able to come out on top, giving him the belt. This win, which was a long-time coming for Punk, seemed to be one last joke at Rollins’ expense as those two have a long and heated rivalry. I can assure you that Rollins did not enjoy seeing his former belt being handed to Punk.
