The event happened on Dec. 19 from 5-8:30 p.m.
The activity, hosted by the media literacy students and headed by seniors Georgia Vislocky and Emma Jones, was $15 per child.
Elementary kids from kindergarten through 5th grade were encouraged to come and enjoy the fun festivities. Some festivities included making binoculars, campfires and animal puppets. Whilst the games consisted of crab soccer, do not feed the bear toss, and camping bingo.
The kids also were fed, ensuring they left the event happy and full.
“Dinner is donated by Chick-fil-A, and the kids will get to take home a cow that is provided by Chick-fil-A at the end of the night,” stated Vislocky.
All funds earned from this event were a direct benefit towards the Make-A-Wish foundation, through the school’s annual Telethon. The Media Literacy class was able to make a donation of over $600.
The funds raised supported the Make-A-Wish foundation, the true success was seen in the students who organized the thrilling event. After weeks of planning, Media Literacy volunteers were able to watch the students enjoy the events they’ve been working so hard on.
“Yes, we [the volunteers] have enjoyed seeing the event that we’ve planned for multiple months come together. The kids had a blast doing all the different activities we had provided for them.” Vislocky said.
