Heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and type 2 diabetes these are the “Four Horsemen” of the world today.
On Jan. 21, sponsor and Forensic teacher James Rocco explained the evolutionary perspective of cancer and its prevention.
Rocco aimed to give students insight on what cancer is and how it affects the human body. The “Four Horsemen” heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and type 2 diabetes all affect the human body and can all be very dangerous in their own right.
Cancer, however, is the second leading cause of death in the world. Every one in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer. Rocco described the inner workings of cancer cells and how it starts.

“I’m trying to create something to give you just a little bit of knowledge,” stated Rocco.
The prevention of cancer starts at a young age Rocco explained to the SNHS students that were present at the meeting. Although many people do not realize what they do or did as kids can ultimately affect them later in life.
Exercise, proper nutrition and sleep are all important things people can do to lower the risk of cancer and other health concerns.
There will be more Coffee and Curiosity talks in the future about the “Four Horsemen” and other related topics. Rocco will continue to lead the lectures and educate the SNHS.
